Tripura Police seizes drugs worth Rs. 1 cr, CM hails success

Agartala, Jan 23: In a major success towards the Nesha Mukt Tripura campaign of Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb, a team of police seized drugs worth Rs. 1 crore from a house in Agartala on Sunday.

A police officer said, Narayan Sarkar, the house owner, and his son Rakesh Sarkar were arrested in connection with the case.

Briefing the media, police said that during the raid led by SDPO Amtali Ashis Dasgupta at Balurchar area of Bhattapukur under A.D. Nagar police station, around 1 kg suspected heroin kept in 64 small packets was seized.

Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb hailed the success in a social media post. While sharing the update, the Chief Minister congratulated the police team.

 

Meanwhile, Tripura Police in its continuous efforts towards building a drugs-free Tripura arrested a good number of smugglers since the formation of the new government in 2018.

Some local clubs and organizations are also playing an important role to eradicate drug abuse from society.
