Tripura CM to launch first indigenously made Bamboo based ‘Cricket Bat and Stumps’

Agartala: In a bid to boost ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ and promotion of indigenous industry, Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb will launch the Bamboo based Cricket Bat and Stumps in Agartala here on Thursday.

The Director General, Arun Kumar Sarma, North East Centre for Technology Application and Research (NECTAR), in a letter to Dr Prashant Kumar Goyal informed that the NECTAR has recently manufactured "Bamboo based Cricket Bat and Stumps” at Bamboo and Cane Development Institute, Agartala which is first of its kind in India. 

“The promotion of Bamboo Cricket Bat and Stumps will open new avenues for the bamboo sector and will surely catch the attention of the young generation of NER and the country as a whole,” Sarma wrote.
 
Proposal for taking over the management control of the "Bamboo and Cane Development Institute (BCDI)" Agartala, by NECTAR, an autonomous body of Ministry of Science and Technology, Govt of India was mooted by chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb, which has been successfully materialised. 

Presently, under the management control of NECTAR, BCDI is efficiently operating its activities for broadening the avenues of livelihood and entrepreneurship by upgrading the technical know-how of the artisans and entrepreneurship of Tripura as well as the entire North East region.
