Agartala, Jan 14: The new terminal of Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport, Agartala will start operation from January 15 next.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated the new integrated terminal building of MBB Airport on January 04 last, in presence of Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb, Union Minister of Civil Aviation Jyotiraditya M. Scindia and others.
The announcement on operation of the new airport terminal came through the official Twitter handle of MBB Airport, Agartala.
"Hon'ble PM of India inaugurated NITB at MBB Airport on 04/01/2022. The commercial flight operations and passenger movement will be started on 15/01/2022 from the New Integrated Terminal Building at MBB Airport. This is for information to all the passengers and public in general," the tweet said.
Built at a cost of Rs. 450 crore on 30,000 sq. metres area with all facilities of international standard, the new terminal showcased the combination of local art, culture and heritage as well as focused on promoting Tripura’s important tourist spots including Chabimura and Unakoti. Local bamboo art has been presented in multiple forms at the airport.
With the commencement of operations from the new terminal, the passenger handling capacity will increase to 1200 domestic and international travelers during peak hours.
There are 20 check-in counters, six parking bays (all power in & push back), four-passenger boarding bridges, conveyor belts, in-line baggage system(ILBS), Escalators and Lifts etc in the new airport terminal.
