Four NLFT men held in Tripura Dhalai district

Agartala: In what seems to be a major success in neutralizing the leftover militant groups in the bordering areas of Tripura, police on Friday successfully arrested two haredcore NLFT cadres and later arrested two of their collaborators from different parts of Dhalai district. Tripura police’s special branch generated the input and police took prompt action. Both the militants are listed active members of the NLFT (Bishwa Mohan) faction. 

One of the arrested persons is identified as Sanjoy Tripura (30) alias Sapre hailing from Khagendra Roaja Para under Ambassa police station. The other one is Akhindra Debbarma (31) aka Shyama aka Okhak of Kata Lutma under Salema police station. Two smart phones and cash Rs 15,000 had been seized from their possession.  The police said they were collecting extortion money in the name of NLFT(BM) from different areas of Dhalai district like Salema, Kachucherra, Kamalpur, Gandacherra and Raishyabari since July 2021.

They were later brought to the police station for interrogation. After the initial interrogation police further get leads about two collaborators from Raishyabari. Bailya Jamatia ( 28) son of Sabda Kumar Jamayia of Paradise Chowmuhani and Rabi Kumar Tripura (45) son of Bashi Kumar Tripura of village - Chailyatoli, under Baghaicherra police station, Sajek Dist.- Rangamati, Bangladesh were later picked up by the police. All of them would be forwarded before the Court on Saturday. Sources said the Chief Minister has passed strict instructions to eradicate militancy from the state of Tripura.
