He wrote, "Gratitude to PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji, BJP4India President Shri J.P.Nadda Ji & Home Minister Shri Amit Shah Ji for nominating me as a BJP candidate for Rajya Sabha MP from Tripura. I am committed to work for the development and welfare of Tripura and it's people".

Manik Saha was elected as Rajya Sabha MP in April this year. Although his tenure as MP is up to April 2028, he resigned from the Rajya Sabha soon after his name was announced as the Chief Minister of Tripura. The election commission has announced the by-election for that seat. Rajya Sabha by-elections are going to be held on September 22.
